Client is hiring a highly skilled and experienced software engineer to join our team. The candidate will be responsible for the requirements, design, implementation, and system bring-up and integration of various embedded software. Textron systems is developing highly complex systems using microprocessor, ARM, and/or DSP architectures. The goal is to create scalable and optimized software systems for defense applications to support modernization efforts for the US military. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of software design and architecture of low-power embedded software systems for controlling and monitoring sensors. The candidate must be able to work independently on individual assigned tasks and well as collaborate with software, systems, safety, and electrical lead engineering team members throughout the project. This position requires that the candidate be a US citizen with or capable of receiving a secret level security clearance.

· Strong understanding of embedded systems design, including low power microcontrollers, microprocessors, and real-time operating systems.
· Proficient in programming language such as C, C++, Python, RTOS, and other assembly languages for embedded systems.
· Strong understanding of schematics and data sheets of underlying hardware.
· Problem-solving and debugging skills.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills. Experience with Agile/Scrum design process preferred.
· Proficiency with software configuration management, defect tracking, and peer review tools.
· Ability to work well in a team and collaborate effectively.
This position requires that the candidate be a US citizen with or capable of receiving a secret level security clearance.

Responsibilities
- Develop robust low-power software for embedded sensor systems.
- Conduct feasibility trade studies and design systems based on performance, power usage, memory, and real time requirements.
- Write code for microcontrollers, microprocessors, and other embedded devices; coordinates the interface of microcontrollers with digital and analog sensors.
- Implements interfaces with multiple systems using standard communication protocols (UART, I2C, SPI, etc.).
- Capture and document the software design in a clear and concise manner in UML using system model-based tools such as Magic Draw.
- Create PC level utilities for interfacing and debugging hardware.
- Support system level testing of custom hardware and embedded software.
- Explore initiatives to enhance system performance, optimize resources and incorporate new features.
- Work with the software engineering team to ensure that the software meets the requirements of the system.
- Travel up to 10% as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 5-8 years relevant experience.
- Experience in developing bare-metal embedded applications.
· Strong understanding of embedded systems design, including low power microcontrollers, microprocessors, and real-time operating systems.
· Proficient in programming language such as C, C++, Python, RTOS, and other assembly languages for embedded systems.
- Knowledge of OS coding techniques, IP protocols, interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART, Memory) and hardware subsystems
- Familiarity with embedded software development tools, debugging, and cross-compilation environments.
· Strong understanding of schematics and data sheets of underlying hardware.
· Problem-solving and debugging skills.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills. Experience with Agile/Scrum design process preferred.
· Proficiency with software configuration management, defect tracking, and peer review tools.
· Ability to work well in a team and collaborate effectively.
